Description

The aim of this workshop is to give you the essential skills and knowledge to populate the template pages of your academic module(s) in Canvas with key information, and to learn how to structure and add accessible content.

Intended Audience:

  • Module Convenors and Module Teams.
  • Those responsible for development of module content.
Prerequisite:
  • Please note that you MUST be enrolled in a Module Development Area in Canvas created for the development of Semester 2 module content, in order to participate in this workshop.

Overview

You will be introduced to your Module Development Area, Familiarisation Area and the online Getting Started with Canvas Course. An orientation of the Canvas platform will help you become familiar with layout and navigation. You will set up your personal profile, notifications preferences and learn how to upload documents and manage files. We will show you how to design and add accessible, multi-media content using the Rich Content Editor. Learn how to structure your module into weeks, topics or themes, and publish content. Manage the student journey by setting pre-requisites and adding requirements then check how your module will look using student view feature. Finally, you can start to populate the template pages of your Module Development Area.

By the end of this workshop you should be able to:

  • Upload files and add accessible content
  • Add links to internal & external content
  • Embed multi-media content
  • Begin to populate the template pages
